Northwestern offices closing for holiday break Dec. 25 through Jan. 1; deadlines approaching for spring enrollment, scholarship applications

Northwestern Oklahoma State University will close for the holiday break beginning Monday, Dec. 25. All Northwestern locations and offices will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018.

Fall semester finals week will continue through Friday, Dec. 15. Spring interim courses take place Tuesday, Dec. 19, through Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. Visit www.nwosu.edu/university-calendar for the finals schedule.

Northwestern’s 16-week spring semester classes will begin on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.

Enrollment for spring courses is open, and new and returning students are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible to ensure course availability. The spring semester schedule of courses is available online at www.nwosu.edu/course-schedules. The last day to enroll is Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018.

Departmental and continuing student scholarship applications are due Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018. For more information on departmental scholarships contact the respective department chair. Students must fill out a continuing student scholarship application available online at http://bit.ly/2knfgHt .

Students can still fill out the FAFSA form for financial aid for the spring 2018 semester but are always encouraged to fill out the form as soon as possible after Oct. 1 each year. The form is available at https://fafsa.ed.gov.

“The 2017 FAFSA, which opened Oct. 1, 2016, encompasses the fall 2017, spring 2018 and summer 2018 semesters,” Rita Castleberry, director financial aid and scholarships, said. “We award students for the fall and spring unless they are graduating at the fall term. New and transfer students for the spring 2018 can complete the 2017 FAFSA at this time for evaluation of eligibility for the spring 2018. The FAFSA for the 2018-19 academic year, which includes fall 2018, spring 2019, summer 2019, came open Oct. 1, 2017. By completing this early it allows for our office to inform students of their aid eligibility and to assist those selected for verification to submit the needed documents. Scholarship applications for continuing students to be eligible for academic scholarships are due by March 15, 2018. Freshman scholarship applications are due by May 15, 2017.”
