Community band to begin rehearsals March 27 for April concert

Anyone who has ever played in band is welcome to join the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Community Band for four rehearsals and a concert starting March 27.

Rehearsals will be at 7 p.m. in Fine Arts 310 on the Alva campus on consecutive Tuesdays through April 17 with the culminating concert on April 24 at 7 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium.

“The purpose of the community band is to promote involvement with both the community and the band,” Dr. Marc Decker, director of instrumental music and music education, said.

Decker said the Community Band will perform a variety of music. Anyone who can play an instrument is encouraged to participate including college students not currently enrolled in band.

The band and concert are free and open to the public.
