Four donation opportunities to Campus Cabinet food pantry coming in December
November 26, 2018
Tis the season for giving, and four opportunities to do so that will benefit the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Campus Cabinet food pantry are coming soon.
The NWOSU Art Society will be holding a non-perishable food drive at its next Goodie Giveaway Saturday, Dec. 1, during the Ranger basketball double-header against Oklahoma Baptist University. Game times are 1 and 3 p.m. with NAS being set up and ready to go at noon inside Percefull Fieldhouse.
On Friday, Dec. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at the Runnymede Hotel during the First Friday Artwalk in downtown Alva, NAS members will be offering items for sale and also will have a box to accept non-perishable food items.
A box also will be located at the entrance to Herod Hall Auditorium prior to the annual Holiday Gala on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
At its ninth annual Holiday Store for Kids and Photos with Santa event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Student Center, NAS members also will be accepting non-perishable food items.
The Campus Cabinet food pantry is especially asking for food donations of a “dorm-friendly” nature. Some of the most needed non-perishable food items include the following:
Canned meat, soup, vegetables and fruit; peanut butter, jelly, cereal, breakfast foods, crackers, macaroni and cheese, rice or pasta, tomato sauce, Ramen noodles, instant potatoes, box meals, single-serving foods and non-frozen microwaveable meals.
The Campus Cabinet also will be accepting personal hygiene items.
For those who would like to make tax deductible monetary donations to help the pantry, they may be made via the Northwestern Foundation. Please make checks payable to NWOSU Foundation, and list in the memo section "Campus Cabinet food pantry.” Checks may be mailed to 709 Oklahoma Blvd., Alva, OK 73717, given to Angelia Case, academic projects assistant and media specialist at Northwestern, in Fine Arts 211 with the same memo, or provided at any food drive that is held.
