Grimsley Selected as Campus Kudos Winner

Leeta Grimsley, assistant director and systems specialist in the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Information Technology office, has been selected by the Staff Council as the recipient of the 2021 fall semester Campus Kudos Award.

Erin Davis, university relations specialist and Staff Council chair; Amy Melton, Division of Education secretary and Staff Council member; and Ashley Fischer, institutional research specialist and Staff Council member, presented Grimsley with her Campus Kudos award.

The person nominating Grimsley for this award said, “Leeta is my ‘go to’ IT person--honestly, because her extension was easy to memorize--but she is always patient when I call. With there being THREE computer labs housed in Vinson Hall, there have been some days I have called her a great deal. Honestly, I throw a lot at her, and she is always ready to catch it. It's not one ‘specific’ thing as much as it is a million little things that make me know she is someone I can count on to problem-solve.

“Plus, when she comes into the building, she's cheerful and pleasant, versus sullen. Trust me, when your computer is not working, you're in a bad mood. You don't need an unhappy co-worker coming in to fix it. Her smile has brightened numerous dark moments over the years.”

Campus Kudos is a public acknowledgment created by the Northwestern Staff Council that applauds the efforts of eligible staff members who have displayed an act of kindness above their job responsibilities. This award is presented each semester, including the summer term.

“I’m honestly quite shocked that I received the Campus Kudos award,” Grimsley said. “It really is special to receive it and know that you have made a difference in some way to others on campus.  For someone to take the time to write such kind words really does mean a lot to me.”
