Northwestern Welcomes 13 New Faculty Members

Thirteen new faculty members began their teaching assignments at Northwestern Oklahoma State University for the 2024-2025 school year. Six faculty members have been hired in the School of Arts and Sciences with seven in the School of Professional Studies.

Short biographies of each faculty member from the School of Arts and Sciences are listed below:

Dr. Adam Alber, assistant professor of chemistry, earned his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from St. John Fisher College and his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Oklahoma.

Derrick Bready, instructor of music and director of choral studies, received a Bachelor of music from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and his master’s degree in music education from the University of Houston.

Danielle Budy officially joins the Northwestern Mathematics and Computer Science Department faculty as an instructor. Budy received both her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Master of Education in Mathematics from Northwestern. Budy taught at Waynoka Public Schools and Northwest Technology Center before she started working with Northwestern in 2010 as an adjunct instructor of math for several years. She also served as director of the Academic Success Center.

Jared Cole, instructor of communication, holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and broadcasting from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Arts in communication from Virginia Tech University.

Dr. Rasika Mohottige, assistant professor of physics, earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Philosophical Physics at the Open University of Sri Lanka before earning his physics Ph.D at the Univeristy of North Dakota.

Dr. Zach Tolman, assistant professor of instrumental music and director of bands, earned both his Bachelor of Music Education degree and Master of Music in saxophone performance from the University of Wyoming and his Doctor of Music Arts from the University of Arizona.

Short biographies of each faculty member from the School of Professional Studies are listed below:

Natalie Adams, instructor of psychology, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Southern Nazarene University.

Dr. Ryle Kiser, assistant professor of education, earned a Bachelor of Arts in education and a Master of Arts in Education Administration from Eastern Washington University. He also holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University.

Sarah Martin, instructor of nursing, received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Science in nursing from Northeastern State University.

Dr. Theresa McBride, associate professor of business, holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Baltimore; a Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University; and a Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews in St. Andrews, Scotland.

Taylor Phillips, instructor of psychology, received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northwestern and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in General Psychology at the university. She joins the Northwestern Psychology Department after serving as a career coach in the Title III/LASSO Project at the university since April 2022.

Dr. Angela Skousen, assistant professor of nursing in the Wisdom Family Foundation Doctoral Program for Rural Nursing Practice, earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees through Northwestern.

Dr. Sandra Scott Watson, assistant professor of nursing in the DNP Program, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She also earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Frontier Nursing University.
