(For best results, please complete this form using the Google Chrome browser) Scholarship Deadline: February 15th Student must successfully complete 24 credit hours the prior academic year and maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (some scholarships may require higher CGPA) to be eligible. Student must be enrolled in at least 12 hours during the semester of receiving scholarship. Pre-Nursing and Nursing Students: 1) Check the criteria carefully on each scholarship as you must meet specified criteria to apply for the scholarships (may apply for all scholarships if qualified). 2) Designate (in the Scholarships section below) the Nursing scholarships you are applying for. Please mark each scholarship you wish to apply for, if qualified. 3) Submit this form and an unofficial transcript (below). The nursing faculty will review the applications in the spring semester and make recommendations for recipients of the scholarships to the committee. Students will be contacted regarding scholarship recipients recommended by the Scholarship Committee. 4) Students must also submit the NWOSU General Scholarship Application for to the Financial Aid Office no later than March 15th each year. Award Criteria for each scholarship: Vernon and Edna McNally Scholarship - Established in 1993, fifty years after Mrs. McNally graduated from Northwestern. The applicant must be junior or senior student in good standing with the NWOSU Division of Nursing Program and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. Melva Taylor Nursing Scholarship - Established in 1996. Melva Taylor was a member of the first graduating class of the NWOSU Nursing Program. Both traditional BSN students and/or online RN-to-BSN students are eligible to apply. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 in the NWOSU nursing program is required. Consideration for selection will include academic merit, leadership, dedication, future goals, and financial needs. Recipient may be a continuing or transfer student. Elaine Winifred "Winnie" Hart Nursing Scholarship - Winnie was raised in Chicago, IL and graduated from Cook County School of Nursing of 1939. This scholarship was established in 1997 in Winnie's honor by her three daughters. Eligible applicants include traditional BSN students and/or online RN-to-BSN students majoring in Nursing and has been admitted into the Nursing program; or a second degree-seeking student. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. May be a junior or senior continuing student or transfer student. Family members recommend a student for this scholarship. Marine Reneau Scholarship - This award was established to provide incentive and encouragement for a student who exhibits a desire and dedication to their course of study. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Scholarship is open to both traditional BSN students and/or online RN-to-BSN students. Third choice would be from the Music Department. J. Cooper and Gladys (Webb) West Scholarship - Established in 2005 with the purpose of providing financial assistance to NWOSU students in nursing and business. Applicant must be a continuing student, U.S. citizen, minimum cumulative GPA 2.50, majoring in nursing or business, and open to both traditional BSN students and online RN-to-BSN students. Warren-Woodward County Scholarship - Established in 2009 by four children of William and Agnes Warren. Applicant must be accepted as a full-time student to NWOSU, freshman or continuing student, minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50, and working towards a BSN in Nursing. Preference will be given to an applicant residing in Woodward County. Dr. H. Leland Steffen Medical Scholarship - Must be a full-time, continuing student, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75, and major in a health-care related field. Doris Ferguson Nursing Scholarship - Established in 2011 by Ferguson, former Dean of Nursing at NWOSU. Must be a continuing junior or senior student, accepted into the nursing program, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. Dorothy Ramey Newman Nursing Scholarship - Applicant may be an incoming freshman or continuing student and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. Preference will be given to Nursing majors; however, students seeking medical-majors may receive the scholarship. The recipient must work a part-time job and be a resident of Woods or Woodward counties. Louise Anna Seitz Nursing Scholarship - Established by Margaret Koppenaal and Linda Ann Frank. Applicant must be a full-time, continuing student, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50, and pursuing a degree in Nursing. Roberta Michaelis Memorial Nursing Scholarship - Established in 2013 by friends and family of Roberta. The scholarship was updated in 2017 after Gil's passing. Applicant must be a continuing student with preference given to a non-traditional student. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80. Applicant must be a Criminal Justice or Nursing major. Criminal Justice majors will receive first preference. Beeler-Stites Family Scholarship - Applicant must be an Oklahoma resident, full-time, continuing student at the Alva campus, minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50, and must be a Science or Nursing major. Applicants with greatest perceived need by the Scholarship Committee will be given preference. Clara Haack R.N. Nursing Scholarship - Established in 2017 by Charles and Clara Jackson. Applicant must be a continuing student, nursing major, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Scholarship is open to traditional BSN and RN-to-BSN students and applicant must complete the continuing scholarship application through the Financial Aid Office. Brad and Angela Szczepaniak Nursing Scholarship - Established in 2017 by Richard and Bonnie Szczepaniak in honor of their children, Brad and Angela, who fought Cystic Fibrosis. Applicant must be a third or fourth year continuing student, accepted into the nursing program, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Applicant demonstrating the greatest need and involved in campus organizations will be given preference. Applicant must complete a continuing scholarship application through the Financial Aid Office. Regina Stephens Kraus, R.N. Scholarship - Applicant must me a full-time, continuing student, nursing major, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20. Applicants active in the Baptist Student Union and the Oklahoma Nursing Student Association will be given preference. Lee and Peggy Mackey Scholarship - Applicant must be a full-time, continuing student, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Applicants who are active in campus organizations and from Woods county will be given preference. Allen L. and Carolyn J. Wilson Scholarship - Established in 2017. Applicant must be a continuing student, nursing or psychology major, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
