Emmett Edler signs to steer wrestle at Northwestern
March 10, 2021
State Center, Iowa, cowboy Emmett Edler signs to steer wrestle for the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Ranger rodeo team starting in the fall 2021. He’s joined by his parents, Patti and Eric Edler, and coach Stockton Graces (standing).
Emmett Edler, from West Marshall High School in State Center, Iowa, has signed to compete as a steer wrestler with the Northwestern Oklahoma State University rodeo team in Alva, Oklahoma, following in his world champion brother’s footsteps.
As a Ranger, brother Jacob finished as the reserve champion steer wrestler at the 2016 College National Finals Rodeo behind Northwestern teammate, J.D. Struxness. In December 2020, Jacob earned the title World Champion steer wrestler at the National Finals Rodeo.
Emmett will continue to learn under head coach Stockton Graves, who has had plenty of his own success in college and nationally in steer wrestling. Graves also was the college coach for Jacob and Struxness, as well as for 2019 CNFR champion Taylor Munsell, a breakaway roper who is the first female at Northwestern to win a national rodeo championship, and Bridger Anderson, a 2019 CNFR champion in steer wrestling who finished ninth at the NFR in 2020.
“We are very excited to have Emmett joining the Ranger rodeo team for the 2021-22 rodeo season,” Graves said. “He will be a great asset to our men’s team, and we look forward to enjoying the Edler family for another four years.”
