Hassler Takes Top Honors at Northwestern Guitar Festival
March 31, 2023
Enid High School’s Jacob Hassler and Enid Waller Middle School’s Noah Webb earned first and second place, respectively, for their guitar solos during Friday’s Guitar Festival at Northwestern Oklahoma State University - Alva.
The high school ensemble of Liberty Fulmer, Paige Adams and Elaina Atherton placed first as did the Waller Middle School ensemble of MacGregor Brennan and Webb.
Northwestern alumnus Drew Faulkner, who earned a Bachelor of Music in vocal music in 2016, is the students’ guitar teacher. Max Ridgway, adjunct instructor of music at Northwestern, is the coordinator of the Guitar Festival, which saw 22 students, all from Enid, compete at the fifth annual event.
“I thought this year’s festival was one of our best ever,” Ridgway said. “Drew Faulkner is doing an outstanding job with these students. They all played with a very high degree of musicality.”
