Miss Northwestern, Teen to be Crowned Oct. 22

Miss Northwestern Oklahoma State University Emily Smith and Miss Northwestern’s Teen Tristyn Burgess will pass on their crowns Sunday, Oct. 22, to the two women who will be chosen to represent the university at the Miss Oklahoma Competition in the coming year.

The competitions will take place in Herod Hall Auditorium at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are available in the Northwestern Business Office or from delegates. General admission is $8 in advance or $10 at the door and $3 for students with ID. Tickets also are available from Paige Fischer, executive director, at (580) 327-8533. 

Ten women are competing for the Miss Northwestern title including Laura Blair, senior psychology major from Waynoka; Diamond Choate, senior general education major from Fort Smith, Arkansas; Riley Hensley, freshman health and sports science major from Jet; Reagan Hiner, sophomore psychology major from Shattuck; Gracie Myatt, junior biology major from Piedmont; Valeria Nzeakor, graduate student majoring in psychology from Frisco, Texas; Mallory Paruszewski, senior mass communication major from Burleson, Texas; Mattie Pitts, junior elementary education major from Waynoka; Megan Spray, sophomore business management major from Sharon; Cora Beth Taylor, junior biology and chemistry major from Kingfisher.

Three high school students are participating in Miss Northwestern’s Teen competition. Teens competing are Dawsyn Burgess of Shattuck; Christina Jenlink of Alva; and Abby Miller of Pond Creek.

Delegates for the Miss Northwestern and Northwestern’s Teen titles will be judged on talent/HERStory, evening gown, private interview, health and fitness, and on-stage conversation. 

Each delegate in both the Miss and Teen categories will receive participation scholarship awards, and placement determines other prize earnings.
