Northwestern Oklahoma State University will play host to the second performance in the Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series lineup with Vox Audio on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium.
Vox Audio was born as “Toxic Audio” at the 1998 Orlando Fringe Festival. The concept was simple: create a fun, interactive theatrical show where the star was the human voice. The show was an instant hit with fans and critics, hailed by The Orlando Sentinel as “surprising, dazzling and brilliant.”
Vox Audio soon caught the attention of Disney executives, who hired them to perform daily at Walt Disney World’s MGM Studios. After winning first place in the National Harmony Sweepstakes and being named “Best Pop Group in America” by Ed McMahon’s Next Big Star, the group spent some time as top-ranked guest entertainers on Royal Caribbean cruise ships.
In 2004, Vox Audio opened to rave reviews off-Broadway. The Village Voice called them “A Sensation!” and Time Out New York said, “Don’t Miss it!” The off-Broadway production also won the prestigious Drama Desk Award for “Unique Theatrical Experience.” Soon Vox Audio garnered national attention with appearances on ABC-TV, FOX and ESPN 2’s “Cold Pizza.” Their album “Chemistry” was named “Acappella Album of the Year” by the Contemporary Acappella Society of America and was featured on radio stations across the country, including Sirius Satellite Radio.
In the years following, Vox Audio performed for sell-out crowds at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and toured internationally throughout parts of Asia, South America and Europe. Wherever they go, Vox Audio continues to delight audiences world-wide by exploring the boundaries of the human voice.
Tickets may be purchased online at http://bit.ly/2qp97xV or at the door for $20 general admission, $5 student admission and $50 for family admission (immediate members only).
Northwestern also will play host to the concert series’ last two performances in 2019: “Tulsa Camerata” on Jan. 29 and “Riders in the Sky” on April 23.
