Open House for Northwestern’s New Esports Gaming Arena Aug. 26
August 23, 2022
Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s esports team members will host an open house to unveil their new gaming arena on Aug. 26 from noon to 2 p.m. so guests may come and go as needed. The open house will take place on Alva’s campus in Shockley Hall 125.
This facility will be utilized for practice as well as gaming competitions, which could include high school competitions.
This will also be an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to ask questions and learn more about the program and scholarships available to students who participate.
“We are excited for others to see the new space for esports and learn more about the growing esports program at Northwestern,” Dr. Tim Maharry, chair of the mathematics and computer science department, said. “The NWOSU esports team currently has over 30 members and we welcome anyone who is interested in the program.”
For more information on esports or scholarships for the program, contact Evan Vaverka, director of esports and instructor of computer science, at (580)327-8587 or epvaverka@nwosu.edu.
